Carnton - 10 months later

Over the weekend, Toby and I visited Carnton (the place where we got hitched). We went to watch a cavalry demonstration, which was undewhelming. All was not lost, however - I got to kiss my husband under the tree where we said our marriage vows!

Here are some photos of the new things at Carnton this spring:

The visitors center is finally under contstruction. We were originally hoping that it was going to be ready in time for our wedding....looks to be about 14 months late! When the facility opens it is going to be great - future brides won't have to worry about renting decent (or in our case, fabulous) restrooms or about the lack of sturdy shelter during a thunderstorm.

The garden is very spring-y with lots of daffodils and a fresh coat of paint on the fences. Another new installation this year is the arbors you see below. It looks like they are training shrubs or trees - pear trees, maybe, to grow around the arbors. I'm sure it will be beautiful when it matures a bit.

Closer shot of the arbors/trees.

Can you believe that it is only two months until our first anniversary?! We have had such a fabulous first year of marriage. We are very blessed, indeed.

And the winner is....

Meredith! Congrats are in order for the Werner-Dinkins family! We've been discussing for years which of the law school girls would first take the plunge into parenthood, and I am very pleased that Meredith is leading the way! Woo-hoo!

Dad's Sandhill Crane photos

Dad is joining Toby in pursuing photography as a hobby. I'm excited that my two favorite men will have something to share other than an interest in blowing things up.

Here are the first photos we've received, I'm not sure why I can't seem to get the one in the middle to be a normal size:

Canada Trip Part III - Scenery

I know, I know, I'm late in putting up the final post with photos from our trip to Canada. Things have been crazy around here! Here they are, all courtesy of Tobias Photography, as always!

View from our room at night -

View from our room during the day. This is Lake Louise, with snow pushed aside to make an ice rink. I little ways to the left, there was a separate area for ice hockey.

At the end of Lake Louise is a waterfall, which is a popular place for ice climbers in the winter. (It was much higher than it looks in the photo. They guy was just a little dot on the ice!)

The resort builds an ice castle in the middle of the skating rink each year. We saw a bride and groom having their wedding photos taken at the castle. The bridesmaids did not look terribly happy in their high heeled shoes on the ice.

Toby's most creative photo - through the castle window. So pretty!

The Canadian Rockies are gorgeous! We highly recommend Lake Louise and Banff for skiing destinations!
