Daddy's Post

Thought I should just add my little bit to the blog...

Daddy's favourite time of day - coming back from work to see all of his girls, Krista, Annie and of course, Sadie, then taking off his shirt and just lying with little Annie sprawled across his chest (hoping she won't pull out too many big chunks of chest hair).

K has been an absolute star. She has allowed me to get rest overnight so I can function at work during the day, and never complains. As a result of all her hard work, little Annie is doing great (as Krista explains below) and Dad is still able to pull out his hair (as if he had any) whilst trying to keep 'his' cellphone network running okay at work. So a big THANK YOU to Supermum (or for all you Americans; Supermom).

And here is yet another pic from our photo session a week and a bit ago;

Annie's two-week checkup

AnnaLeigh had her two-week checkup today, and I am happy to report that she is doing well and has regained her birth weight! Since we've had some feeding trouble and are having to nurse, pump and supplement (all in the same marathon feeding sessions), I am extremely relieved that she is back up to her birth weight. She's also grown an inch and half in length in the last two weeks, so something must be working! She's now up to the 50th percentile in height and weight.

Her parents are faring pretty well, though we are fairly exhausted (sometimes physically, sometimes emotionally, sometimes both). Things that are keeping me sane through the madness:

1. Daily walk around the park with Toby, Annie and Sadie after Toby gets home from work
2. Emails and cards from friends and family
3. Frequent text messaging with our lactation consultant
4. Foods that I can eat with one hand

That's all for now - we're hoping to get some more cute photos this weekend. Check back soon!

Then the whole world changed....

...and it was infinitely better.

AnnaLeigh was born at 6:05pm on March 16, weighing in at 8 pounds, 5.5 ounces. She was 19 inches long and absolutely perfect. The week has flown by, and thanks to the help of my mom and dad, Toby and I are doing great, and AnnaLeigh is thriving.

Here are some photos that Toby and I took this afternoon.

39.8 weeks

Okay, so I just couldn't live with that horrid photo of me from the 39.5 week post, so I took it down. I've decided there must have been some serious shadows making me look like I was carrying twelve babies. Or at least one baby in the front and one in the back.

Here is a replacement photo - not 39.5 weeks (sorry, Jess) , but not too far off at around 37 weeks.

39.5 Weeks

Not long now! We've been spending our possibly-last-childless weekend doing far more than we should. Toby ran 20 miles yesterday in preparation for the marathon - I am super impressed! I went to Target - twice - for last minute things, met a friend for lunch and organized the filing cabinet. I'm not sure if that counts as nesting. Then last night we walked downtown for Brewfest, the annual beer tasting/St. Patrick's Day celebration, where I drank an O'Douls and still got a lot of funny looks.

Today we (and by "we" I mean Toby) planted all the perennials that I ordered last week in a moment of insanity.

Here's the artsy shot of the week....

And this last one is a terribly unattractive photo of me taken in a hurry last night, but Jess has been hounding me for a 39 week shot, so here it is. Hopefully the baby will wait a day or two longer so that I can get some more attractive shots. In the meantime, I now have "Exhibit A" for all the people who have been telling me that I don't look all that big. Liars.

Anyway, I'm still feeling really good, and am optimistic that the baby will show up any time now. We have a doctor's appointment on Wednesday, which is my due date. If MiniCooper hasn't arrived by then, I'm hoping we'll get a good progress report.

Too cute

The triplets are too cute for words - and have finally learned to smile at the camera!!!! Hooray!
